Why I chose my two artifacts

The area of representation I chose to focus on is female characters in disney movies. The two films i chose to compare are the little mermaid and Brave, with particular focus on the characters of Ariel and Ursula and Merida and her mother.

I chose these two films because in the film little mermaid has the main female character Ariel, who is a young teenage mermaid and also in Brave the main female character is Merida a young teenage girl. In these two films I can show how they are both represented in different ways however in both of the films they are tricked my female characters and the characters against them are again both female but are against them in different ways.
