The Wanted Clip Character Representation

Discuss the ways in which people are represented in the extract. Refer to stereotypes in your answer. Use examples from the extract.

In this clip the female protagonist (Angelina Jolie)(fox) is wearing a white dress, which shows her to be flawless, and represents separation from society when she is talking she shows a discrete smirk showing she doesn’t display much emotion. Her tattoos represent her to be quite masculine and have much power and strength. In the clip she also man handles Wesley (James McAvoy), which is anti stereotypical and represents her to be superior to him and also in more power and more knowledgeable. She also presents herself in a confident way and moves with purpose she straighten her arms showing her strength whereas Wesley has flimsy arms showing his weakness.

The Male protagonist (Wesley) in this clip is represented to be shy and slightly lonely. During this clip he travels with panic and isn’t shown to be strong or have power. He is also wearing a striped t-shirt with a blue jacket, which is stereotypical whereas she stands out. Throughout the clip he travels and stands in victimised positions especially when she manhandles him during the fight. He is represented to be a less masculine but a slight underdog, which stereotypically would rise to the occasion and save the day.

The Antagonist (cross) in this clip is always in the distance and barely in focus, which represents him to be isolated and mysterious, but stereotypically he is eastern European and wears a green/brown leather jacket and isn’t fazed by any of the fighting during this scene. In this scene you notice he doesn’t actually attempt to shoot Wesley, which is quite unusual even when Wesley is directly in front of him he doesn’t even flinch.
